Ipsy GlamBag- March ’17

Review

So Ipsy was the cheapest beauty subscription box I can find IN CANADA. Well there was Birchbox for the same price (10$) BUT THEY DON’T DELIVER TO CANADA (crying my expensive mascara off). Anyways, I was pretty excited to get this glam bag because, I mean, for 10 bucks for a few products that are actually good quality, nothing can go wrong with that.

This month the “box” (because it came in a beautiful metallic pink envelope – can’t miss that!) was named: Ispy Tres Jolie, which is french for very pretty Ipsy. My guess was that they were inspired by the french, from France (and not the quebecers haha), and their idea of beauty. From what I understand, unlike some areas in the world, they like a more natural, effortless beauty (makeup), even if you did spend the last three hours perfecting your canvas.

I will list products according to size, starting with the one that has the most quantity.

  1. Marc Anthony: Deep repair conditioning treatment in aloe vera jasmine

FullSizeRender

This smells soooo good. I don’t know what aloe vera smells like but I would guess it smells like a mix of flower and fruit. It’s not an overpowering smell and it looks like regular conditioner. My hair did feel a lot more silky and smooth. This is the first conditioner that I have to use from roots to ends.

Rate: 10/10.

2. Marula Oil

FullSizeRender (6)

I’ve used oils and essential oils before and I am thankful that this one doesn’t have an overwhelming strong scent. It’s easy to dispense from the bottle,  it feels light weight, and it doesn’t feel uncomfortable. No horrible reactions yet.

Rate: 10/10. Plus it’s suitable for all skin types.

3. Dirty Little Secret blush in Kitty Pink

So I think this colour isn’t the best for me, either that or I don’t know how to put blush on. Besides from that, I think it is a good blush; very light weight, not too harsh  and it’s not too strong of a colour, and I like the packaging.

Rate: 8/10. Yeah, even though I don’t really like it on my skin colour, it’s still good quality.

4. Pur Disapearing Ink concealer in medium

FullSizeRender (1)

This product’s coverage was ok ( like a 75% coverage). The colour was ok. However it’s a little too liquidy for my liking. What concerns me the most is that there’s a warning on packaging that, and I quote;

Sunburn Alert: This product contains an alpha hydroxy acid (AHA) that may increase your skin’s sensitivity to the sun and particularly the possibility of sunburn . Use sunscreen, wear protective clothing, and limit sun exposure while using this product and for a week afterwards.

AND FOR A WEEK AFTERWARDS… I find it a little alarming. I’m not sure I want to even risk using this again.

Rate: 2/10. I don’t like risking my skin and isn’t this a chewing gum company?

5. Tarte Tarteist lip paint in delish

So last but certainly not least, my favourite makeup product: liquid lipstick. I love love love Tarte and most of their products. One of the first makeup product I ever bought was the Tarte Tarteist lip paint in shade tbt. Such a beautiful mauve, I got so many compliments! This one time Sephora did not have tbt in stock so I tried to look for a dupe and I ended up buying NYX lingerie liquid lipstick in shade 12 Lipli. It wasn’t the exact shade but it suffice until Sephora was restocked. The one I received in the glam bag, shade delish, reminded me of those lipsticks so I thought I could swatch them and see the differences.

Rate: 10/10. It dried down in a couple minutes. It feels light weight and it doesn’t dry up my lips.

Over all, I’d say this bag was a 7/10.
