Yummy Fruit Water

Recipe

This drink has lots of different names, such as, detox water, fruit infused water, aguas fresca, or even vitamin water (and so many more creative names) that I’m simply going to call it as it is; fruit (and/in) water.

Now, I’m no nutritionist (or anything related to food and health specialist) so I’m not sure that these drinks really do miracles, as the inter webs say, like fat burning or prevents you from having diseases (and what not) but I do know enough to say that water is really good for you and so are fruits. [Yes, I know everything in moderation.]

So here’s a couple recipes to try out one day for whatever reason you’re doing it for. It’s really simple all you need is:

Ingredients

  • Fruit
  • Water
  • Ice (optional)

You will also need:

  • Bottle (or anything to contain the liquid)
  • Knife & cutting board
  • Spoon

Directions

Prep

  1. Chose fruit
  2. Cut the fruit in slices

Mix

  1. Put fruit(s) in the bottle
  2. Add water
  3. Stir
  4. Put in ice or in the fridge
  5. I usually let it diffuse for minimum 20 minutes, sometimes I put it in the fridge from 1-4 hours and overnight.
You can also use vegetables, chia seeds,
fresh herbs, or almost anything really.
It's like a cold tea.
Bonus: You get to eat the fruits and/or
vegetables after drinking the water, like
a 2 in 1 deal! (A drink AND a snack!)

So here’s some inspiration:

  • Cucumber and grapes
  • Strawberry and lemon
  • Apple and cinnamon stick
  • All types of berries
  • One ingredient by itself; chia seeds, mint leaves, etc.
  • Cucumber, chia seeds (3 table spoon) and blueberries
  • Blueberries, lemon, and orange *

*So the blueberries, lemon, and orange infused water actually made me feel good. I don’t know if its like a placebo effect but I drank this while I was sick (multiple times) and I didn’t feel so miserable (like I would have).

Ipsy GlamBag- March ’17

Review

So Ipsy was the cheapest beauty subscription box I can find IN CANADA. Well there was Birchbox for the same price (10$) BUT THEY DON’T DELIVER TO CANADA (crying my expensive mascara off). Anyways, I was pretty excited to get this glam bag because, I mean, for 10 bucks for a few products that are actually good quality, nothing can go wrong with that.

This month the “box” (because it came in a beautiful metallic pink envelope – can’t miss that!) was named: Ispy Tres Jolie, which is french for very pretty Ipsy. My guess was that they were inspired by the french, from France (and not the quebecers haha), and their idea of beauty. From what I understand, unlike some areas in the world, they like a more natural, effortless beauty (makeup), even if you did spend the last three hours perfecting your canvas.

FullSizeRender (5)So the make up bag, that comes with the subscription, is actually really nice. It is well made; mesh on the top side, suede-like material on the bottom, and lined with a plastic-like material. Beautiful colour as well, light pink, which is on par with spring season.

I will list products according to size, starting with the one that has the most quantity.

  1. Marc Anthony: Deep repair conditioning treatment in aloe vera jasmine

FullSizeRender

This smells soooo good. I don’t know what aloe vera smells like but I would guess it smells like a mix of flower and fruit. It’s not an overpowering smell and it looks like regular conditioner. My hair did feel a lot more silky and smooth. This is the first conditioner that I have to use from roots to ends.

Rate: 10/10.

2. Marula Oil

FullSizeRender (6)

I’ve used oils and essential oils before and I am thankful that this one doesn’t have an overwhelming strong scent. It’s easy to dispense from the bottle,  it feels light weight, and it doesn’t feel uncomfortable. No horrible reactions yet.

Rate: 10/10. Plus it’s suitable for all skin types.

3. Dirty Little Secret blush in Kitty Pink

So I think this colour isn’t the best for me, either that or I don’t know how to put blush on. Besides from that, I think it is a good blush; very light weight, not too harsh  and it’s not too strong of a colour, and I like the packaging.

Rate: 8/10. Yeah, even though I don’t really like it on my skin colour, it’s still good quality.

4. Pur Disapearing Ink concealer in medium

FullSizeRender (1)

This product’s coverage was ok ( like a 75% coverage). The colour was ok. However it’s a little too liquidy for my liking. What concerns me the most is that there’s a warning on packaging that, and I quote;

Sunburn Alert: This product contains an alpha hydroxy acid (AHA) that may increase your skin’s sensitivity to the sun and particularly the possibility of sunburn . Use sunscreen, wear protective clothing, and limit sun exposure while using this product and for a week afterwards.

AND FOR A WEEK AFTERWARDS… I find it a little alarming. I’m not sure I want to even risk using this again.

Rate: 2/10. I don’t like risking my skin and isn’t this a chewing gum company?

5. Tarte Tarteist lip paint in delish

So last but certainly not least, my favourite makeup product: liquid lipstick. I love love love Tarte and most of their products. One of the first makeup product I ever bought was the Tarte Tarteist lip paint in shade tbt. Such a beautiful mauve, I got so many compliments! This one time Sephora did not have tbt in stock so I tried to look for a dupe and I ended up buying NYX lingerie liquid lipstick in shade 12 Lipli. It wasn’t the exact shade but it suffice until Sephora was restocked. The one I received in the glam bag, shade delish, reminded me of those lipsticks so I thought I could swatch them and see the differences.

Rate: 10/10. It dried down in a couple minutes. It feels light weight and it doesn’t dry up my lips.

Over all, I’d say this bag was a 7/10.

If you’re interested I do have a discount code for a SOL THEORY subscription box: LIZZ33 for 20% off your first box. Check it out: Soltheory.com/lizz33 🙂

I’ll be having a review for that subscription box soon 😉

MunchPak Subscription box – March ’17

Review

Today, I received a MunchPak subscription box in the mail. I haven’t been this excited in a while. It’s kind of like waking up Christmas morning and opening a gift that you already know you’re going to like. I’ve been so busy with my life that I don’t remember how long I’ve been waiting for this box of goodies. I just feel like it’s so exciting to try new things and taste different food that were so used to, kind of switching it up a bit.

So the feature image is exactly how I received it through the mail. You can see a person with a box head running, it seems, through the world and specifically the well known places, such as, New York, Australia, Egypt, Brazil, Paris, and (I believe it’s) Japan.

This is how it looks when you first open it up.

Apparently my box was made with love and its name is Nick (I wonder why). The box was easy to open, it was sturdy enough and I love the graphics and design of the box and of the letter, it looks fun and cute. I think the colours red and white are perfect for this box.

Although the items in the box may come from different countries, I am glad that the letter, the ad, and the ingredients inside of the box was in English.

The first item I tried were the chips called Rap Snacks in Honey Jalapeno flavour.

17176327_1497940250240908_678193144_o

At first, the taste kind of reminds me of smoked bacon chips from Lays, and then you sort of taste the honey and then the jalapeño is more of the after taste. It’s not too spicy. I love the design and I also find it funny that it has Fetty Wap on it. On the back of the bag, you can find a Fetty Wap quote (as well as other information) saying: “Nobody put me on. I got up and worked extremely hard for what I have. Nobody can take that away from me!” Did he really start a potato chip company? I haven’t seen them in Canada yet.

Rate: 8/10. I’m not a huge fan of smoked bacon chips but the honey and jalapeno gives it an original taste that I like.

The second item I tried was the corn potage.

I cannot tell you the name simply because it is written in another language that does not use our alphabet. The only two things that I can read on the package is corn potage (bottom of the package in the front) and the website http://www.yaokin.com (situated on the side of the package).

It tastes like real corn except it has a wafer-like texture. I thought it would taste more like Frito Lays chips or like popcorn. A little salty compared to corn. At first, I didn’t quite like it but after nibbling at it ( so that I can review the taste) it is not that bad. The packaging is nice, I like the little rabbit in the front and the drawing of the corn is cute. The foreign language makes it look super cool.

Rate: 2/10. The idea of eating something like salty corn but in a wafer form is a little too foreign for me and my taste buds don’t really appreciate it.

The third item I tried was the Choco Pie.

17200302_1497940206907579_1705322553_o

I’m not quite certain from which country this is from. On the back of the package, you can find information written in Russian, Spanish, French, and English. It did say that it was made in Seoul, South Korea, but there was no words written in that language. I really liked this snack, it reminded me of my childhood because I have a sweet tooth and I lived in a multicultural neighbourhood. It reminds me of Italian sweets but I’m not sure nor do I remember the name of the sweet I am thinking about. Simple and appetizing packaging. It’s like two soft cookies with marshmallow filling, coated in chocolate.

Rate: 10/10. I could eat like 20 of these.

The fourth item I tried was Meiji Choco Baby.

17200773_1497940173574249_721003092_o

The packaging reminds me of tic tac.If you love chocolate, you’re going to love this treat. It kind of taste like dark, rich, chocolate. This product is from Japan. I love how the chocolates are like in a nibble size proportion. You can put it in your purse and have it with you on the go. Two or Three of these can satisfy your sweet craving, unless you’re like me you can have 1/3 of the product at one go.

Rate: 10/10. Do I even need to explain? It’s chocolate.

The last, but not least, item I tried was the Baby Roos.

17193871_1497940133574253_1090700630_o.jpg

I knew I was going to like this one. I used to eat this candy all the time as a kid ( I guess I had a lot of cavities) except in Canada they’re called Baby Bottle Pop. Both candy and powder are sweet and taste like watermelon.

Rate: 10/10. Dejà knew.

That’s all I get in the mini version of this subscription box. I had fun opening and tasting the different snacks. I will be posting a couple more subscription box reviews for March and we’ll see if I’ll continue any of  them.

Amazon Purchases

Review

So you know when you watch Youtube videos and it makes you want to buy unnecessary things?

Yeah so here’s a Blog version of “Youtube made me buy it” review.

Lately I’ve been watching a lot of manicure DIYs and most of the nail gurus on Youtube say that their secret to growing and having instant beautiful nails is to wear fake nails. Unlike Susie, from Nail Career Education, I don’t make the time to use gel or acrylic on my nails. Therefore the other alternative is to use press on nails. I’ve found these Makartt nails on Amazon for about 10$ and the nail glue as well, Kiss Maximum Speed, for about 4 $.

unnamed-1

The package is easy to open and contains 500 pieces. It’s basically a big zip lock bag that has mini zip lock bags. The numbers on the mini zip lock bag help with being organized; each number is the different size, the bigger the number on the baggie the smaller the nail size.

unnamed-6

Here I have, from left to right, size: 8, 4, 2, and 2. Yes, I now realize that the index finger should have a smaller nail and I will fix that when I actually glue it on! (Please forgive my hands, I am not a hand model)

The second item, the selfie ring light, was pretty cool. Although I do have some concerns; will I ever have to change the lights? It’s basically like a big clip that is also like a flash light and it comes with a charger. I wouldn’t say it’s the most sturdiest object but it will do. It has three setting and it can be clipped to almost anything.

I’m not sure if you could tell by the images but those are the three settings. It is a flattering light so it was worth the purchase. I got it off of Amazon for about 20$ and the brand name is So Go Cool.

So all in all, all these products were about 35$ in total. I’m pretty satisfied and I guess it’s okay to buy unnecessary things for yourself…. as long as it’s not an everyday thing.

lol says the girl who has to pay for school tuition and fees,
and rent, and transportation, and…..
